AI-native IDE originally built by Codeium, acquired by Cognition in July 2025 after Google hired its founders in a licensing deal. In June 2026 it was rebranded Devin Desktop, with windsurf.com redirecting to devin.ai. The IDE now serves as the desktop interface to Cognition's agent stack, with a local agent replacing the former Cascade agent and access to Cognition's SWE models alongside frontier models.
