Stripe SDKs and MCP server that let AI agents create and manage Stripe payment objects via function calling.
Gives agents tools to create Stripe objects such as payment links dynamically through function calling, in Python (3.11+) and TypeScript (Node 18+). Integrates with the OpenAI Agents SDK, LangChain, CrewAI, and Vercel AI SDK, and Stripe hosts a remote MCP server at mcp.stripe.com with OAuth in addition to a local server via npx. The MIT-licensed stripe/ai repo also ships an AI SDK integration and token metering, and Stripe co-authored the Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP) with OpenAI for agent-driven purchases.
Strengths
- Broad framework coverage across OpenAI Agents SDK, LangChain, CrewAI, and Vercel AI SDK
- Hosted remote MCP server with OAuth plus a local MCP option
- Restricted API keys (rk_*) scope what agents are allowed to do
- Backed by the Agentic Commerce Protocol open standard from Stripe, OpenAI, and Meta
Tradeoffs
- Requires a Stripe account, with standard Stripe processing fees on transactions
- Parts of the agent tooling are in beta and access-gated
- Stripe recommends sandbox testing and evals because agent behavior is non-deterministic
